Bayfront Resort at Cross View invited us for a hosted weekend stay. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely our own.
As a sports family, we’ve spent countless weekends traveling for tournaments. Baseball, softball, basketball, soccer. We’ve done it all. Most trips are quick turnarounds, especially when the fields are close to home.
For a recent baseball tournament in Sandusky, Ohio, I brought my son and nephew and turned it into a weekend getaway. We are Cedar Point season passholders and love spending time in the Shores and Islands Ohio region, so this felt like the perfect chance to extend the trip.
That is how we ended up at Bayfront Resort at Cross View, a luxury RV and cottage resort just minutes from the places we already enjoy. While we do not own an RV, we stayed in one of their cottages, which gave us a comfortable, flexible space to relax between games. You can also rent an RV and have it delivered right to your site, so there is no need to drive or park it yourself.
Here is what stood out during our stay and why Bayfront Resort could be a great option for your next
That’s when I discovered Bayfront Resort at Cross View.
Bayfront Resort at Cross View is a luxury
Here’s a closer look at what makes Bayfront Resort a perfect option for your next weekend getaway.
Bayfront Resort Location
Bayfront Resort at Cross View is located in Sandusky, Ohio. Specifically, it’s on First Street, which is important to know. That’s because it’s the last street before you head over the causeway to Cedar Point Amusement Park. It’s unbelievably close to one of the best amusement parks on the planet and roller coasters like Top Thrill 2.
It’s so close that we decided on a whim at 9 PM to hit the park for a few late-night rides before closing. We’re season passholders, so we can park for free and quickly navigate to our favorite coasters.
The property is somewhat tucked away along the street, making it a welcome retreat from the park and tournament crowds.
The location also puts the Bayfront Resort minutes from the Sports Force Parks ballfields. It’s also a short drive to Cedar Point, Cedar Point Shores Waterpark, the ferries to Put-in-Bay and Kelly’s Island, and other Shores and Islands Ohio attractions.

Bayfront Resort Cottages
The cottages! Where do I start?! Our cottage was the last in the row, closest to the boat launch and breakwall. The exterior looked incredible, with an inviting front porch perfect for enjoying my morning coffee (provided it’s not Mayfly season).

Walking into the cottage, I couldn’t believe how spacious and luxurious it was, considering its exterior appearance. There were only three of us, but a cottage can accommodate up to six people. With four teens, we value separate beds and space. My son is tall, so fitting in the bunk beds was challenging, but he made it work.

Somehow, my nephew scored the private bedroom, complete with its own TV, closet, dresser, and a huge ceiling fan, too! He’s a good kid, so I let him enjoy the private space.

That left me with the loft all to myself. Real talk…the steps are steep, and the ceiling is low. It’s not made for hanging out or walking around, which is totally fine. Think of the cottage as a tiny home. Everything has a purpose, and the loft is a place to sleep. The bed was quite comfortable, and the view of Cedar Point lit up at night was perfect. I liked the loft. I’m not sure Barb would’ve appreciated it as much.

Cottages come with a full bathroom, complete with a shower. There was also a washer and dryer, perfect for sports families in town for tournaments. If our team had performed better, I probably would have washed the uniforms. The kitchen was stocked with basic utensils, more than enough for most needs during a stay. Having a kitchen area and counters was super helpful for making and packing food for our tournament. There was also a small breakfast bar area where you could sit and eat.

We didn’t use the living room area much, but it looked great. There was a large smart TV, a built-in fireplace feature, and a comfy couch and ottoman. We did use the free WiFi. After the games, the guys retreated to their beds and phones.
A grill, picnic table, and fire pit were on the side of the cottage exterior. We used this area briefly, but the excitement of visiting Cedar Point at night was too much to pass up.
The cottages are equipped with linens and towels. We found a basket of bath towels for use during our stay. The cottages are also air-conditioned.
Bayfront Resort Amenities
While the resort is an
Heated Pool

Despite some rain during our visit, we enjoyed the resort pool several times. It’s advertised as a heated pool, but it felt pretty cold. Luckily, it was a hot weekend, and the cold water was the perfect way to cool off after a day of baseball.
During our visit, we saw a few guests using the pool area, but it was empty each time we swam. The boys took full advantage of the space, whipping a ball as hard as possible at each other (and me).
Clubhouse with shower and laundry facilities
Next to the pool is an air-conditioned clubhouse with comfortable seating, family games and activities, and vending machines. Resort guests can also enjoy complimentary Sunday morning breakfast treats from a local bakery served in the clubhouse.
Further down the same building are full shower facilities, changing areas, and a laundry area for resort guests. Our cottage had a shower, washer, and dryer, so we didn’t need to use the facilities at the Clubhouse.
General Store
While checking in for the weekend, I noticed a small general store in the main office. We didn’t buy anything, so I can’t speak to specific items it carried or its pricing, but it looked well-stocked with snacks, beverages, and essentials you might need during a stay.
Waterfront Walkway
Our cottage was located next to the shoreline and featured a breakwall, along which you could walk during posted hours. Some signs are posted with guidelines to follow as you enjoy the beautiful views of Sandusky Bay. The resort also offers a boat launch with direct access to Sandusky Bay and Lake Erie. Short-term and long-term dockage are not available. Fishing is permitted from the bay side of the breakwall for individuals holding a valid fishing license.
