The Boardwalk at Cedar Point: A Guide to Rides, Dining & Family Fun

If you haven’t been to Cedar Point in a while, there is a new section of the park worth checking out. The Boardwalk sits along the Lake Erie shoreline near Cedar Point Beach and brings together a mix of new and familiar attractions in a fresh setting.

We’ve visited The Boardwalk several times since it opened, and it has quickly become one of our favorite areas of the park. Between Wild Mouse, classic midway rides, lakefront views, and some of Cedar Point’s best dining, it’s a great place to spend a few hours whether you’re chasing thrills or taking a break from the bigger coasters.

Here is a closer look at what you can expect along The Boardwalk at Cedar Point and how to make the most of your visit.

Wild Mouse

Wild Mouse offers fun for the whole family. The coaster features 4-seat cars that resemble mice. Funny enough, every Wild Mouse car has a name: 

• Ziggy
• Zaggy
• Dizzy
• Mazey
• Chase
• Larry

There’s even a car that resembles a piece of cheese for the six mice to chase. 

At 52 feet tall, Wild Mouse isn’t designed to compete with Cedar Point’s record-breaking coasters, but that’s exactly what makes it fun. The spinning cars, tight turns, and unpredictable ride experience make it one of the park’s most enjoyable family coasters, and no two rides feel exactly the same.

Riders must be at least 42” tall to ride with a supervising companion, or 48” tall to ride alone

Cedar Point’s Grand Pavilion

Cedar Point’s Grand Pavilion is the centerpiece of The Boardwalk. The two-story restaurant features indoor and outdoor seating, an upper-level bar, and panoramic views of Lake Erie from multiple outdoor decks.

This is one of our favorite places to eat inside Cedar Point. The menu includes a variety of freshly prepared entrees, sandwiches, seafood, and side dishes. It’s a great option when you’re ready for a break from typical amusement park food.

Don’t miss the upstairs bar. It’s a great place to relax, take in the lakefront views, and cool off with one of the bar’s popular frozen or traditional drinks on a hot summer day.

Along with Farmhouse Kitchen & Grill and BackBeatQue, the Grand Pavilion reflects Cedar Point’s continued investment in higher-quality dining throughout the park.

Other Boardwalk Attractions

The Boardwalk is also home to GateKeeper and WindSeeker, two of Cedar Point’s signature attractions. WindSeeker remains our youngest daughter’s favorite ride. I still think soaring 301 feet above Lake Erie is far scarier than any roller coaster in the park.

We also like taking a break along the waterfront between rides. Even if you’re not hopping on every attraction, it’s one of the nicest places in the park to slow down and enjoy the views of Lake Erie.

Plan Your Visit to Cedar Point

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning for another season, a little planning can go a long way. Buying tickets online in advance, arriving early, and deciding which rides and attractions are most important to you can help you make the most of your day.

Our family has Cedar Point season passes because we visit several times each year. Living about an hour away makes it easy to stop by for a few hours, ride our favorite coasters, try new food, or cool off at Cedar Point Shores. If you plan to visit the park more than once in a season, a season pass can be a great value thanks to benefits like free parking and discounts.
